Chicago, October 6, 2010 – Matt Louis, G7® Expert and Color Assurance Manager at PrintPlace.com, attended the IDEAlliance G7® Summit at GraphExpo and won the ISO 12647 standards gap analysis audit, conducted by KEE Consultants and sponsored by Alwan Color Expertise.
PrintPlace.com, a leading web to print provider, has aligned presswork with ISO 12647-2 based printing specifications since its inception in 2006. Although many of PrintPlace.com’s end users are unfamiliar with terms such as PSO, G7®, ISO 12647, Gracol® and Fogra, implementing best practices in print reproduction are nevertheless in the best interest of anyone involved in the print procurement chain. As more printers join the standards initiative, print buyers will continue to benefit from the common appearance of pages regardless of their chosen print providers. “Printing has been priced as a commodity for the past decade” says Louis, “but the way we manufacture print also had to become a commodity to enable automation and scalability. We produce thousands of pages per day and we know what every page should look like in terms of CIElab and process control aimpoints without even having to visually inspect the printed images. We are excited to have won the KEE Gap Analysis Audit to obtain measurable recommendations from a recognized expert source as to how we can improve our operation.”
Elie Khoury, founder and chair of KEE Consultants adds: “We are very happy to make our Gap Analysis Audit (GAA) available for North American printers in support to the PSA initiative (Printing Standards Audit and process certification) lead in the USA by IDEAlliance® and Rochester Institute of Technology. It is important for American printers who want to print to international standards to prepare themselves for the upcoming PSA certification, and KEE Consultants’ Gap Analysis Audit is the ideal and most cost effective way to start this preparation work.

On August 24, 2010, PrintPlace.com was named to the prestigious Inc. 500 list of the fastest growing companies in America.
The 2010 Inc. 500 is a group of companies that are smaller but much faster-growing than last year’s crop. Aggregate revenue is $11.3 billion—down from last year’s $18.4 billion—but median three-year growth is 1,231 percent, substantially up from last year’s 880.5 percent. The companies on this year’s list employ more than 45,000 people.
“Fast growth at any time is a big achievement; fast growth during the past few years is just short of miraculous,” said Inc. editor Jane Berentson. “The Inc. 500 consists of these just-short-of miraculous companies, the ones that through ingenuity and ambition have increased revenue, hired employees, and grown fast in difficult economic times.”
This year, PrintPlace.com placed in the top 100 of the list at #54, a dramatic increase from last year’s debut on the list at #979, and posted a three-year sales growth of 4,168%.
PrintPlace.com Founder & CEO Shawn Petersen commented on the award: “I am honored to be ranked among the other entrepreneurs on this year’s list and am especially proud to be the only commercial printer to rank among the top 500. I attribute our phenomenal growth over the past three years to our employees and loyal customers. PrintPlace.com employs a dedicated and conscientious team who work hard to ensure our clients receive the best possible quality and customer service. Because of this, we are able to offer quality, price and satisfaction guarantees unique in our industry, which is appreciated by our customers. Without this partnership, our success would not be possible.”
